Water Damage Classification By Chenal Restoration
Water damage is classified into one of the following four classes of water absorption:
- Class 1 Water Damage: Least amount of water, absorption, and evaporation. Water losses that only significantly influence a house or a place, or larger areas using components that have only slightly absorbed moisture. There is little to no damp carpet or pillows.
- Class 2 Water Damage: Water that is absorbed, evaporated, and in large quantities. Water losses that at least damage the carpet and cushions in the room (pad). Walls only about two feet high have been inundated. Concrete, plywood, particleboard, and other structural timber all still contain moisture.
- Class 3 Water Damage: Water evaporation, absorption, and consumption are at their highest levels. Water may have come from above or may have wicked up over two feet, impacting the subfloor, carpet, cushion, walls, ceilings, and insulation. The area is soaked throughout.
- Class 4 Water Damage: Specialized Drying Circumstances. These are made of moist materials with very little porosity or permeance (hardwood, plaster, brick, concrete, stone). Deep pockets of saturation are typical and call for extremely low specific humidity.
